'So, as you can see, your highness, er-er, I mean, well, yes, as it is, we barely have enough to feed our children. Tis very hard, Madame, living as we do. I myself-."
Emma, more formally known as Emmanuelle De La Therese, High Monarch of the Autumn Court, cut the fey off with a raise of her hand. She smiled kindly down at the commoner, who had come along with hundreds others to state their complaints and receive compensation and or assistance where needed. Emma spoke gently, but even then her voice held great power.
"I thank you most kindly for coming here, sir, and I will assure you that within a fortnight your lands will be well fortified, and your livestock and children will be able to sleep easier, as well as a small basket of food, to show my gratitude for your offering, and for your coming all this way to speak with me." Emma motioned to one of her guards, a fearsome fellow with engineered silver wings strapped to his back, and a very sharp pointy sword at his side, who walked up to the scuffled, rather dirty fey man, who now regarded the armed and very angry-looking fey with some apprehension. The soldier leaned down and leered into the man's face. The peasant cowered, and the soldier immediately leaned back up to his 6'2 height, guffawing loudly, as the man was gently pushed towards the door by two of the lesser servant fey. As he left, the man was given a large basket, full to the brim of food, and his face shown with gratitude and joy until the smaller antechamber door was shut in his face. Emma smiled until the door clanged shut, then dropped her facade and leaned back in her ebony-gilt throne, complete with gold and scarlet draping. The burly man walked back to his place beside the queen, and Emma smiled at him.
"You know, you didn't need so scare him that much, he was no threat." Emma chided her bodyguard gently, still smiling.
